Deborah's Graduation Gift from BBTK

Deborah and all her K2 classmates received this NIRV Adventure Bible as a graduation gift from the school. It comes complete with the Old and New Testaments.

According to the principal, Mrs Seah, this is something God laid upon her heart some years back to do. We certainly agree that this is the best graduation gift to bless all these little children graduating from BBTK.

May the children who have received the Bibles, learn to treasure and grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ as they begin a new chapter of their lives in their primary education.

Excursion to Singapore Botanic Gardens

On 1 November 2013, Bethesda (Bedok-Tampines) Kindergarten ("BBTK") organised a final outing for the K2 children to Singapore Botanical Gardens. It is the first time Deborah was going to be there.

Three days before this outing, Deborah drew a picture of what the Botanical Garden looked like in her mind.

I wondered why they put the courtesy lion mascot here. Perhaps, to remind us to be courteous when using the park?

Thank God for the wonderful weather. It was fair and cool!
We could not have asked for more.

We walked through the rainforest trail, and discovered a tall tree with intertwined branches all the way up above our heads.

It caught the children's attention when they realised the intertwined branches were flexible and one after another, they started swinging the branches for fun.

The tree behind Deborah is a kind of fig tree from Africa. Notice the figs are growing out from the trunk instead of its branches.

And then, she was getting a little tired of mommy asking her to take pictures... Hence, the 'sianz' (expressionless) face... hee hee.

After having our morning snacks and walking through the thick lush greenery, it was so refreshing to walk into another part of the Botanical garden that looked like an "autumn" garden. The sun was shining and the yellow leaves were reflecting the sun's rays.

It was a very beautiful sight indeed.

While we were there, a Caucasian couple was holding a private wedding solemnization at the hut behind us.

We finally found a spot where the children could play and run about.

The fun became more exhilarating for the children when the school principal, Mrs Seah joined in and had a good run with them.

Looking at their cheerful and smiley faces, isn't it obvious the children enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

Before we left...

Deborah's K2 Graduation & BBTK Concert 2013

We have been attending BBTK's Annual Graduation & Concert for 3 years now. This year is especially meaningful because it is Deborah's final performance in BBTK as well as her graduation concert.

It was a pleasant surprise to receive the invitation card with Deborah's drawing on it. Deborah was especially proud because this is the first complete drawing she has ever done. And mommy is proud too, because it was the first time she sat down patiently with Deborah to guide her how to draw.

Mommy had the privilege of walking her down the aisle for the concert commencement because Deborah wanted Mommy to do the honours. Besides, Daddy will get his chance when Deborah gets married in the future. (Sorry, daddy, you will have to wait longer.)

This year, the theme for BBTK's concert is Good News!

The GOOD NEWS message was delivered by Elder Jeffrey Goh from Bethesda (Bedok-Tampines) Church.

What I gleaned from his message was that no matter who we are, God loves us. He loves us just as we are. His infinite love for us is not based on what we do, how we look or what we have achieved. His love is solely based on who HE is - His faithfulness, His character to love.

When God loves us, He gave us not just blessings. He gave us His heart, His only Son - Jesus Christ, and most of all, His HEART of love poured out all for us through the Blood of Jesus.

I am praying that this Good News message will continue to minister to the hearts of the parents and grandparents who were listening to the message that day, and may the Lord JESUS reveal His love fully in their lives, through the Holy Spirit.

Next, the performance by David and his classmates of Faith 2. David was very proud to be one of the 8 children selected as part of the choir group to start off his class performance.

The song they sang this year is "I love to tell the story" by Go Fish. It is a modern version of an old hymn.

Deborah's class (JOY 1) sang the song "Forever" for their class performance. Dressed in this sweet red and white dress, she really looked like a princess that day, short of a prince charming. Haha!

The finale songs the children sung this year were "He will carry you" and "Heavenly Home" (in mandarin).

Wanna thank the 2 grandmothers and also,  Da-Gu-Ma (Celine), Dua-Bei (Jimmy), Er-Gu-Ma (Joo Lian), Er-Gu-Zhang (Denard) & Da-Jiu (Desmond) for attending the children's concert and giving them your loving, wonderful support.

Finally, a picture was quickly taken at home after the concert, just before the children started getting cranky for missing their afternoon nap.

School Term 3 (Year 2013)

We are coming to the close of Term 3/2013. Yes, school term break will start tomorrow. Hooray!

David has received his Term 3 portfolios and activity books. It is always interesting to read what our kids had been doing in school during the last 10 weeks.  I am always impressed by the teachers of BBTK (Bethesda Bedok-Tampines Kindergarten) for the efforts they put in to take photographs of the activities our children were involved in at school.

In this term, the school focused on the theme, "Food and Fruits".  The children have been reciting and singing songs and nursery rhymes about foods and fruits. One of David's favourite is the "Watermelon song" (sung to the tune of "Are you sleeping, Are you sleeping?"),

"Watermelon, watermelon,
thump, thump, thump (2x)
I think you are ready, I think you are ready
Big and round, big and round".

Here are some songs and rhymes the kids have learnt this term:

In July, one of Deborah's homework was to identify healthy and unhealthy foods through cut-and-paste pictures from magazines.

Another week, both Deborah and David came home with a booklet that encouraged the children to paste sticker when they drank a glass of plain water. It was a promotion exercise by Health Promotion Board to encourage young children to drink more plain water instead of soft drinks.

On 15 August 2013, Deborah and her K2 classmates had an excursion to PastaMania @ Seng Kang Sports Hall to learn pizza-making.  We were looking forward to tasting the pizza she made and were so disappointed when she told us they had finished the pizzas for lunch.  Nonetheless, we are happy that she thoroughly enjoyed herself (although she had car-sick on the way back to school on the coach).  It was thrilling to see Deborah showing off her Certificate of Participation. Kudos to BBTK, once again.

11 days later, Mommy joined David and his classmates for the
school's first-ever field walk to Sheng Siong supermarket on 26 August 2013.

The children were given a worksheet with a list of fruits / juices. Their task was to look for the actual fruits / juices in the supermarket and then cross it out on the worksheet.

David was kind of surprise to see a yellow flesh cut-watermelon in the supermarket for the first time. It then dawned on me that I had not showed him one before.

Today, the school is celebrating Teachers' day before the week long school holiday commences. What we can look forward in Term 4 is our sweetie princess will be graduating soon, and in 3 months time, she will be entering Primary One at mommy's alma mater - Paya Lebar Methodist Girls' Primary School.

The remaining months of Year 2013 is going to be very exciting for our family. So stay tune.
